As the Food Huntress, I will be sharing healthy
eating plans and food adventures with family, friends and through travel adventures.
Growing up, I experienced mostly my Mom and Grandma’s traditional southern
cooking. When I married my Japanese husband Glenn at the age of 20, I
started adding my mother-in-law’s Japanese and Hawaiian inspired dishes into my
recipes. My husband was smart to give me a gift of great cookbooks for my
wedding present (or shall I say his gift). My goal was to cook a
different meal every night for the first year of our marriage. Not
sure I succeeded but I came close!
Many life adventures have inspired my cooking. The city where we
lived that has inspired me the most is Boston
with the many international cuisines and great seafood. Traveling with hubby on
business to Germany, Switzerland, Italy,
England, France, Hawaii
added to my culinary curiosity and experimentation.
Living in mid -Michigan
inspired me to join a gourmet group. Hunting for unique and interesting
foods to make for the well-traveled group had a huge influence on my cooking
for over 20 years.
I started a wholesale muffin business “Baby Cakes” in the early 1990’s and
learned the ins and outs of owning my business but decided to go
back into the business world of medical sales, where I remained for 11
years. The pull of great foods and a wonderful cookbook collection and
the need for culinary adventure kept drawing me back into the world of foods.
I started my business, Cherry Tree Catering eight
years ago and I have loved it. I have met many wonderful
people in the culinary arts and they are so willing to share their
knowledge with me. Many of you have asked for my recipes and that’s why I
started Food Huntress to share my culinary adventures and experience with you.
So I'm developing Food Huntress. I'll be hunting for great and healthy recipes to share with you! Hope you come along on the culinary adventure!
